About Reno Heat & Air

Reno Heat & Air is an independent referral service. We connect homeowners in Reno, Sparks and the rest of Washoe County with independent, third-party heating and air-conditioning contractors. We do not repair, install or service HVAC equipment ourselves, and we are not a contractor. Before you hire any company, confirm its license with the Nevada State Contractors Board and ask for its license number in writing.

What this site is for

Heating and cooling in the Truckee Meadows is a two-season job: air conditioners through dry summers, furnaces and heat pumps through winters the local building code designs for at 17°F. Homeowners comparing quotes rarely have the local numbers in one place: what the City of Reno charges for a permit, what Nevada law allows a contractor to take as a deposit, which license class can replace a whole system. This site publishes those numbers with their sources, and, when matching is open, connects homeowners with an independent licensed contractor.

How matching works

  1. You describe the job: equipment, symptom, and whether it is urgent.
  2. An independent contractor licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board under an air-conditioning classification contacts you.
  3. You check the license number yourself, compare the written quote against the deposit and permit rules published here, and decide. There is no fee to you and no obligation.

Details, including what your consent to be contacted covers: how matching works.

How the information here is sourced

  • Rules come from the agency that writes them. Permit requirements and fees are read from the City of Reno, City of Sparks and Washoe County documents themselves; license classes and the deposit cap from the Nevada Administrative Code and Revised Statutes; climate design figures from the 2024 Northern Nevada Code Amendments. Summaries, AI answers and other websites are not treated as a source for a rule. The site currently relies on 13 recorded facts, each with its source and the date it was read.
  • Prices say where they came from. Cost ranges are published national figures, labelled as national with the date read; a "Reno published price" is one a local company showed on its own website, labelled with the date. Figures as of 2026-11-05.
  • Gaps are stated, not filled. 3 questions are open right now, including the City of Sparks permit fee, which Sparks does not publish. Pages that touch them say so and give the agency's phone number.
  • Every page shows when it was updated, and fee pages are re-read each July, when the City of Reno publishes its new fiscal-year fee schedule.

What this site will not do

  • Claim to repair, install or service equipment, or employ technicians.
  • Publish ratings, star scores or reviews it cannot verify.
  • Sell or rent your contact details, or share your text-message consent with anyone.
  • Show a phone number or take a request before the line and the form are real and working.

Corrections

If a fee, rule or price here is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page with the source you are reading. Corrections are made to the underlying fact first, so every page that uses it updates together.

Who runs this site

Reno Heat & Air is a trade name of AuthenitcBrand, LLC, a Nevada company. It holds no contractor license and performs no HVAC work.
