How it works

How matching works

Four steps between a broken furnace and a written quote, and the parts that stay your call.

Reviewed November 5, 2026. Sources are listed at the end of the page.

Short answer

Reno Heat & Air is an independent referral service: you describe the heating or cooling problem once, we pass it to one independent NSCB-licensed contractor serving your address, and that contractor contacts you with a quote. There is no fee and no obligation, and your details are never sold.

Status: matching opens in a later update. Until then the cost, permit and license guides on this site are free to use, and you can verify any contractor yourself at the Nevada State Contractors Board.

  1. Step 1

    You describe the job

Equipment (AC, furnace, heat pump, swamp cooler), what it is doing, your neighborhood, and whether it is an emergency. No account, no fee.

  2. Step 2

We pass it to one contractor

An independent heating and air-conditioning company serving your address, licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board. Your details go to that contractor to fulfill your request and nowhere else.

  3. Step 3

    The contractor contacts you

By phone, email, or text if you agreed to texts. Only the business named to you, and us, may contact you under that consent.

  4. Step 4

    You check and decide

Look up the license number, compare the written quote with the cost and permit pages here, and hire or not. There is no obligation.

FAQ

Matching questions

Does it cost anything to be matched?

No. There is no fee to the homeowner. Contractors, not homeowners, pay for referral services like this one.

Will my number be sold or passed around?

No. Your request goes to the contractor needed to fulfill it. It is not sold or rented to anyone, and your text-message consent is never shared. See the Privacy Policy.

Is the contractor you send me licensed?

We ask every contractor to hold an active NSCB license in an air-conditioning classification, but you should still look it up yourself before work starts; a license can lapse. Nevada requires licensed contractors to show their license number in advertising (NRS 624.720), so asking for it is normal.

Is Reno Heat & Air the contractor?

No. Reno Heat & Air is an independent referral service. We connect homeowners in Reno, Sparks and the rest of Washoe County with independent, third-party heating and air-conditioning contractors. We do not repair, install or service HVAC equipment ourselves, and we are not a contractor. Before you hire any company, confirm its license with the Nevada State Contractors Board and ask for its license number in writing.

Want a licensed contractor who pulls the permit for you?

Describe the job once. An independent, NSCB-licensed Reno contractor follows up. No obligation.
